Scripted War
WAR OFFICE – FIELD TELEGRAPHS (SECTOR 7)
MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD
TO: Signal Clerk, Station 5
FROM: Office of the Chief Signal Officer, Expeditionary Force
SUBJECT: Reassignment and Operational Directives – Station 5
By order of the Regimental Court, your disciplinary transfer to Station 5 is effective immediately. Following recent insubordination on the line, you have been removed from general communications and assigned to this isolated post. Here, your sole mandate is absolute compliance, not interpretation or commentary.
You will remain locked within Station 5 for the duration of the current push. Your duty is to receive incoming wireless telegraphy, verify the legitimacy of every line, and route the communications across the sector frequencies. You are a filter for the war; nothing more.
Before taking the key, examine the implements at your desk, then flick the primary switch on the side of the radio to energize the transmitter set:
- The Desk Manual: Contains official Morse translation tables and the personnel directory. Every authorized operator utilizes a strict 5-character identification tag (e.g., G4RY7). You will verify each tag against the directory before routing the message.
- The Station Log: Record every passed transmission and every suppressed line. Your logbook will be audited upon the station's relief.
SPECIAL WARNING:
Transmissions on the wire will specify destination frequencies and abbreviated tactical directives. (eg., G4RY7: 3 A4 CLR) You are to set your tuning dial precisely to the indicated channel before relaying.
Do not assume every voice on the wire carries authority. The enemy actively monitors and intercepts our signal paths. Never relay a line bearing an altered, warped, or unlisted operator tag. A single forged character or an unverified code will be treated as high treason.
Beware of compromised frequencies.
By Order of High Command,
Lieutenant Colonel, Signal Corps
